2.1 Basic Qualification :

In order to secure admission to first year of   full time MCA course, the candidate should fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

Passed with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate* (40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelors degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.

OR

Appeared** for the final year examination of any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Degree exam with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.

OR

Passed with any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline AND passed in any Post Graduate degree course of minimum two years duration recognized by the Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with minimum 45% marks in aggregate* (40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.

OR

Passed with any Bachelor’s  degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline AND Appeared** for the final year examination of any Post Graduate degree of minimum two years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Post Graduate Degree exam with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.


NOTE :
  • Candidate is advised to ensure before applying for the CET and the admission to the MCA programme in a particular University that he/she is eligible for admission to the programme as per the relevant Eligibility Rules of that University. Generally candidates passing qualifying degree examination by part time or by correspondence course or passing in more than one sitting are not considered eligible by several Universities.
  • The candidates who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) degree course with minimum % of marks as stated above are not required to fulfill the requirement of having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.
  • For the Maharashtra State Type A candidates the Home University shall be decided on the basis of place of passing the Bachelors degree examination (rule No 3.1).The place of passing Post Graduate degree, if any, will not be considered for deciding the Home University of the candidate.
Eligibility Criteria for admission to Maharashtra State candidates (Type A-E) for the seats    coming under CAP :(refer rule No. 3.1 for the definition of type of candidature for Maharashtra State Candidate)
 
  • Basic qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.
  • Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET 2008.
Eligibility Criteria for admissions to OMS candidates for the 15% seats  coming under CAP  :(refer rule No. 3.2 for the definition of Outside Maharashtra State Candidate)
 
  • Basic qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.
  • Appeared and qualified in AIMCET 2008 for seeking admission to MCA.
 
OR
  Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET 2008.
   
Eligibility Criteria for admission to J & K Migrant Candidate:
 
  • Basic qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.
  • Appeared and qualified in AIMCET 2008 for seeking admission to MCA.
Eligibility Criteria for admissions against seats for NRI /Foreign National / Foreign student / PIO / Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries:
 
  • Basic educational qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.
  • Appeared and qualified in AIMCET 2008
 
OR
  Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET 2008.
 
OR
  Any other equivalent entrance examination conducted for the academic year 2008-09.;
   
  Note: For NRI /Foreign National/Foreign student/PIO/ Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries candidates the condition of ‘Indian Nationality’ specified in rule 2.1 does not apply.
Eligibility Criteria for Minority*/Institute Level seats:
 
  • Basic qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.
  • Appeared for AIMCET 2008
 
OR
  Appeared for the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET 2008.
 
OR
  CET conducted by agency (including Association of all colleges of a particular type in the State) approved by Pravesh Niyantran Samiti located at Bandra (E), Mumbai-51 for the academic year 2008-09.
  *Candidates seeking admission against the Minority Seats in Minority Institutes will have to fulfill the additional eligibility criterions as specified in the Government Resolution.and its amendments which may be published from time to time.
  NOTE:
 
  1. There shall be no reservation for Backward Class Category Candidates in Unaided Minority Institutes.
  2. The candidates who will remain absent for MAH-MCA-CET 2008 shall be treated as not eligible for admission and result of such candidates will not be declared.
  3. Candidate securing zero or negative marks in MAH-MCA-CET 2008/AIMCET/ Association CET/any other equivalent CET will not be considered eligible for admission. Names of such candidate shall not appear in the merit list.
  4. Eligible NRI candidates may be offered admission against the Institute Level Seats in Unaided Institutes. For detailed guidelines of Admission Process please refer Annexure III.
  5. Aggregate marks means the grand total of marks obtained by the candidate in subjects based on which the class declaration is made in the particular University from which the candidate is passing the qualifying examination.
  6. Candidates appeared for final year degree examination (Graduation/Post Graduation) fulfilling the remaining eligibility criteria will be offered provisional admission subject to the condition that they will pass and submit the results of the examination with the required percentage of marks on or before 30th September 2008. In case, such candidate fails to produce the results of the final year examination on or before 30th September 2008, then admission offered to such candidate automatically stands cancelled and the fees (tuition, development and other fees) paid by the candidate of the academic year 2008-09 will be forfeited.
  7. Candidates aspiring to seek admission to the MCA course should follow the instructions given in Annexure -I for filling up On-line Application form, appearing for CET 2008, filling up the option form etc.
